Jul 19, 2011
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam: Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSX: RIM) and Brightstar Corp. today introduced a localized version of the BlackBerry® Bold™ 9780 smartphone in Vietnam. Featuring an incredibly easy-to-use Vietnamese keypad and localized user interface, the BlackBerry Bold 9780 is elegantly styled and packed with advanced communications and multimedia features. It also comes with the BlackBerry® 6 operating system.
Dany Bolduc, Vice President of Vietnam at RIM, said: “The BlackBerry Bold 9780 is a powerful and feature-rich smartphone with an exceptional keyboard and a compact and stylish design. It comes with the BlackBerry 6 operating system to deliver a truly outstanding mobile experience. We are confident that the BlackBerry Bold 9780 and its localized features will be well received by customers in Vietnam.”
“We are very pleased to work with RIM to launch this fully localized BlackBerry smartphone for the Vietnam market,” said Thanh Vo, National Marketing Manager for Brightstar Distribution in Vietnam. “The BlackBerry Bold 9780 has already quickly become popular in the market and we can see that the addition of the Vietnamese keypad and software will make it appealing to an even wider range of Vietnamese consumers.”
The BlackBerry Bold 9780 offers a compelling blend of features, performance and design. It supports 3G networks around the world, as well as Wi-Fi® connectivity and GPS for location-based applications and geo-tagging. Its 5 MP camera comes with a full complement of high-end features including continuous auto focus, scene modes, image stabilisation, flash and video recording. The BlackBerry Bold 9780 also includes 512 MB Flash memory and an expandable memory card slot that supports up to 32 GB of storage.
In addition to its localized Vietnamese user interface, the BlackBerry 6 operating system delivers an approachable and engaging experience that’s powerful and easy to use.
