Vip and RIM launch the BlackBerry Bold and the BlackBerry Pearl 8110 Smartphones in Serbia

Two exciting, innovative smartphones for individual and enterprise users

Belgrade, Serbia and Waterloo, ON., Canada: Vip mobile, a member of mobilkom austria group, and Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today introduced the new BlackBerry® Bold™ and BlackBerry® Pearl™ 8110 smartphones for the Serbian market. Both smartphones will be available in selected Vip centers across the country beginning today. Vip was the first to introduce BlackBerry® service in Serbia in December 2007. These two new BlackBerry® smartphones complement the BlackBerry® Pearl™8100, BlackBerry® Curve™ 8310 and BlackBerry® 8800 smartphones as part of the Vodafone Office product portfolio available from Vip.

BlackBerry Bold
The BlackBerry Bold smartphone supports tri-band HSDPA high-speed networks around the world and comes with integrated Global Positioning System (GPS) and Wi-Fi®, as well as a rich set of multimedia capabilities. Featuring a lustrous black exterior, satin chrome finished frame and stylish leatherette backplate, the BlackBerry Bold smartphone is a symbol of both accomplishment and aspiration.  

Its next-generation 624 MHz mobile processor makes short work of downloading email attachments, streaming video and rendering web pages. The BlackBerry Bold also includes 128 MB Flash memory plus 1 GB on-board storage memory, as well as a microSD/SDHC memory card slot for additional storage that is conveniently accessible from a side door.  Additionally, Vip customers will receive a 1 GB microSD card with each BlackBerry Bold purchase. Its 480 x 320 resolution color LCD is fused to the undersurface of the lens, and it high pixel density (217 ppi) makes images leap out with stunning definition and clarity. It also features a 2 megapixel camera with video recording capability, built-in flash and digital zoom.

With its newly enhanced, high performance browser and high-resolution, ultra-sharp display, the BlackBerry Bold smartphone gives users an on-the-go web browsing experience with desktop-style depiction.  The trackball mimics a mouse, making it easy to navigate sites in "Page View" or "Column View" or to zoom in on specific parts of a web page, while various emulation settings allow users to choose between the full desktop-style HTML content and layout or the mobile version. Attachments can also now be downloaded from within the browser and there is support for watching streaming videos (RTSP – real-time streaming protocol).
 
BlackBerry Pearl 8110
The BlackBerry Pearl 8110 smartphone is designed for people who want business grade functionality in a small and stylish smartphone. Its built-in GPS can help users get to where they need to be and it offers everything to be expected from a BlackBerry smartphone, including email, phone, web browser, text messaging, MMS, Instant Messaging (IM) and organiser, as well as access to thousands of other business and lifestyle mobile applications.  This incredibly small and stylish smartphone packs a lot features including the easy-to-use and popular SureType® keyboard system, a digital camera with video recording*, rich multimedia capabilities and an expandable memory card slot.

On December 1, 2006 Vip, member of mobilkom austria group, was granted the license for the third mobile operator in Serbia, The license for GSM 900/1800 plus UMTS is valid for 10-year period and it can be prolonged automatically for another 10 years. The license obligation is 80% population coverage with its own signal within four-years. The first Vip mobile postpaid offer was launched on 19th October, 2007.
