Research In Motion Appoints Chief Operating Officer of Engineering and Manufacturing

Industry Veteran Larry Conlee Joins RIM To Fill Key Executive Position and Expand RIM's Leadership in the Growing Wireless Communications Marketplace

Waterloo, ON: Research In Motion Limited® (RIM®) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSE: RIM), a world leader in the mobile communications market, today announced the appointment of Larry Conlee as Chief Operating Officer of Engineering and Manufacturing. Effective immediately, Mr. Conlee joins RIM's executive management team with the mandate to fuel corporate growth through engineering and manufacturing excellence. Working directly with RIM founder, Mike Lazaridis and the RIM management team, Mr. Conlee will oversee RIM's engineering and manufacturing groups to help realize and expand upon RIM's longstanding vision for 'Always On, Always Connected®' computing and communications solutions.

Larry Conlee joins RIM with over twenty years of international experience in corporate senior management at Motorola. During his career, Mr. Conlee has led a variety of successful, cross-functional teams competing in the cellular, PCS, paging and messaging sectors.
