BlackBerry Acquires Movirtu to Improve Adoption of BYOD and COPE

BlackBerry Limited (NASDAQ: BBRY; TSX: BB), a global leader in mobile communications, announced today that it has acquired Movirtu, a provider of virtual identity solutions for mobile operators that allows multiple numbers to be active on a single device. This improves device management in bring-your-own device (BYOD) and corporate owned personally enabled (COPE) environments. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Madrid, Spain and Waterloo, Ontario: Telefónica Móviles España (TME) and Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) have introduced the BlackBerry Web Client™ platform to Telefonica's customers in Spain. The 'Correo Profesional con BlackBerry®' service is now available in Spain with BlackBerry 7230™ handhelds. It brings the push-based BlackBerry solution for the mobile management of email to professionals and small- and medium-sized enterprises. Telefónica Móviles first introduced BlackBerry to Spain last year when it launched BlackBerry Enterprise Server™ for corporate use.

Waterloo, ON: Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today announced that it signed an agreement with Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) to license RIM's technology under RIM's BlackBerry Connect™ licensing program. Through this deal, Motorola will have the option to enable specific mobile phones to connect to BlackBerry® services including support for both BlackBerry Enterprise Server™ and BlackBerry Web Client™.
